Gymnastics – Huge numbers register for Worlds

41st Artistic Gymnastics World Championships
London (GBR), October 13 – 18, 2009

LAUSANNE (SUI), FIG Office, July 31, 2009:

The 2009 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships will truly be a worldwide event as the Definitive Registration list shows 75 delegations and a total of 457 gymnasts (283 MAG and 174 WAG) will be present at London’s O2 Arena for the biggest gymnastics show, on October, 13-18.

The overall number of all participants, coaches, judges, officials and guests to be accredited at this event comes, so far to 1,166 people.
Considering that the last World Championships of the competition format that will apply in 2009 (Competitions 1, 2 and 3, but no Team event), in Melbourne in 2005, saw 189 male and 95 female gymnasts representing 67 National Federations, it is apparent that the London World Championships will be one of the biggest ever.
According to initial estimations, 961 men’s routines and 551 women’s routines will be competed in the Qualification round of the Championships on October 13 – 14 for men and women respectively – a tough job for the judges!
