Milestone for hurt gymnast

 

The halo is off.

Just yesterday, Olympic hopeful Taylor Lindsay-Noel and her family celebrated the milestone for the teen, paralyzed after a tragic accident during gymnastics training.

Mom Rowena Lindsay said they weren’t expecting the halo, which holds the head and neck in place, to come off so soon.

“She’s a couple of weeks ahead of schedule – she’s young, and athletic and probably heals faster than the average person. This is very positive.

“This is a part of the miracle.”

The young gymnast broke her neck in July during training, while attempting a double flip dismount from the uneven bars.

Taylor continues to receive a lot of support from fellow students, teachers and the wider community, from well wishes to visits to donations to help pay for her rehabilitation.

Tomorrow, her classmates at Northview Heights Secondary School, at Bathurst St. and Finch Ave. W., are holding a fundraising car wash and barbecue from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the school.

A walkathon is scheduled for Oct. 19…
