The Gymnastics Community Must Support Taylor Lindsay-Noel

The tragedy of Taylor Lindsay-Noel has finally been brought to the attention of the main stream media now is the time for all of us to step up and support Taylor and her family.

When this was first reported on our discussion section Gymbrooke Discussion back in July we prayed it was not true, this had not happened? How could something so tragic be unreported, how can we show our support ?

We stood by again when another poster said that Ms. Lindsay had repeatedly requested privacy and urged that “out of respect for Taylor, please refrain from using this to fuel any type of attack on what you feel is wrong with the sport of gymnastics,” but Ms. Lindsay said she never made such a request.

In fact “she felt that the gymnastics bureaucracy has all but abandoned her.”

The bureaucracy can take whatever position they wish but they don’t speak for us nor do we believe they speak for the gymnastics community on this issue. Indeed, the federation’s technical director, Kellie Hinnells, yesterday told The Globe in a telephone interview that, “It’s not our business…we’re not making any comment. We don’t wish to discuss it, particularly with the media.”

Her mom says she hasn’t received as much as a phone call from Gymnastics Ontario, though Taylor was Ontario champion at the national open level. Gymnastics Canada is every bit as silent, though Taylor has represented her country.

Please read the articles published in the Toronto Star and the Globe & Mail

So profound is the silence around the accident that one of Ms. Lindsay’s friends, who has set up an account to help the family with additional expenses such as massages, has been unable to raise any money because, Ms. Lindsay said, “No one has heard anything about it.”

That ends today please support and donate to Taylor Lindsay-Noel.

Anyone wanting to help the family can donate to CIBC, transit number 07312, account number 77 591 85.

As a mother of a child close to Taylor’s age, I cannot begin to image the shock and despair and you must have experienced and continue to experience from this unfortunate tragedy. Even though none of us know why this happened and we ask ourselves why Taylor, only God knows what lies ahead and sometimes we cannot see the bigger picture that he has in store for us.

You are in my thoughts and I pray for your beautiful child to become all that she can be in this path of life. She is a ray of sunshine piercing through dark clouds and she will slowly light up the sky.

What a tragedy …. and to add insult to injury, the SILENCE by the governing body and the Toronto Sun. Shame on all of them!!!!!!!!

A wild guess as to why the The Sun has not printed a word.
Peng Peng (Christine) Lee’s father is Kin-Man Lee Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of the Toronto Sun. Christine trained at Seneca and by all accounts was there when this accident happened. Christine is one of the gymnasts hoping to be selected to represent Canada at the 2012 Olympics. I will leave it up to you to consider why the Toronto Sun did not send a reporter to investigate and report on this tragic event.

Good luck Taylor! I believe in you, stay strong, and never let anyone tell you what you can and can`t do. They told me to set realistic goals when I told them it was walking, I walked out of that center 9 months later. 1 Year after injury, I`m on crutches and can walk a bit unsupported.

    See you in two weeks.
