This event is huge with over 24,000 gymnasts from all around the world attending. It’s one of the biggest sporting events in the world – even bigger then the Olympics!
The World Gymnaestrada takes place every four years, most recently in Lisbon, Portugal in 2003. The World Gymnaestrada 2007 moves to the center of Europe, to the four-countries region of Austria – Switzerland – Germany – Liechtenstein. From 8 to 14 July 2007, Dornbirn in Vorarlberg – the westernmost province of Austria – will be the venue for the Gymnaestrada 2007.
In contrast to the Olympics Gymnaestrada is not a competition it is more a matter of values than evaluation. While the Pan American games have lost status as mentioned in the article below the World Gymnaestrada has continued to grow into one of the largest sporting events in the world. The sheer size of the event, the number of participants, and the very spirit of the World Gymnaestrada makes it an event that’s one of a kind. Essentially, it’s a cultural event uniting individuals from around the world is there a better reason or purpose for a sporting event if there is I am not aware of it.
If you are performing at the 2007 World Gymnaestrada we would be pleased to hear from you.

It has a unique atmosphere and everyone is there to have fun. You perform the things you studied at home and you get to see unique acts from a lot of different countries.
It’s also great to meet so many people from so many countries. Everyone is friendly and is there to have fun!
