The 14-year-old Lion’s Pride Gymnastics Academy member is off to Whitehorse next week as a medal favourite and a key part of Team B.C. at the Canada Winter Games. Fresh off helping the seven-member B.C. squad to a first-place finish at the World Olympic Gymnastics Academy Invitational meet in Houston, Tex. earlier this month.
“I’m really excited about the Winter Games mainly because I missed so many big meets last year,” said Swift, who was third all-around in Houston thanks mainly to a gold medal on bars and silver on vault. “I love competing and the Winter Games is a big event so it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

There are several ways to stay up to date with Team BC at the Games: The Team BC Wave newsletter is published every day on the Team BC website and contains all sorts of information about each sport, team results and bios, events, news, pictures and more! If family, fans and friends want to have a copy of the Wave newsletter sent to them directly, tell them to sign up through www.teambc.org
Friends, family and fans can send good luck messages to their Team BC athletes and coaches through the Team BC website. Go to www.teambc.org and hit “Contact an Athlete” on the left hand side menu. Messages will be delivered to coaches and athletes on a daily basis beginning February 22, 2007.
Team BC mission staff will endeavour to update scores as they’re happening so be sure to visit www.teambc.org for scores on the go! Please pass this information on to your network so that they can follow Team BC at the 2007 Canada Winter Games.
